Mediumwave Schedules and Station Directories

About Mediumwave Listening

Mediumwave broadcast stations (aka “AM Radio” in many parts of the world) have a special spot in my heart, because they were my first introduction to the world of DX radio, listening late at night as a child to clear channel stations in far-off locales like Chicago and New Orleans. Station spacing is at 10 khz in the Americas but at 9 khz in the rest of the world. MW transmissions travel much farther at night; consequently medium wave stations in North America are given licenses with different privileges, including lower power day-time only stations, higher power regional stations, and maximum power clear channel stations which can be heard for hundreds of miles.—Mediumwave broadcasting is declining in many parts of the world, however it still serves as the most economical form of long-distance radio broadcasting in many parts of the world. Many medium wave enthusiasts in North America attempt to log a station from each US state and Canadian province. A good way to start is to try to snag the powerful clear channel AM stations at night.

KG5JST Longwave Radio Station Directory

About Longwave Listening

Long wave broadcast stations are found only in ITU zone 1 between 148.5-283.5 kHz., however, many people listen to these stations in other parts of the world, either through their own lucky receptions or more likely via remote receivers located in Europe. (I frequently use the Utwente WebSDR for longwave listening) Most stations use 9 kHz. standard spacing but the exceptions are marked below with an asterisk.

Longwave broadcasts are normally conducted in the AM mode.

The following information was compiled from several sources, but especially from Wikipedia and MediumwaveRadio.com's page on Longwave transmitters.
